Work from a project about the idea of “the self” and “the other”. Here are the main points of my artist statement (last photo) that sum up what the project is about. “There is a notion that to live a meaningful and successful life there must be sharp boundaries between oneself and the other. As an identical twin, my sense of self has been defined by anecdotal archetypes – the tall or short one, the introvert or extrovert. How do I explore my sense of self when my identity has always been defined as my opposition to someone else?”… “In exploring “the self” , I have discovered that my sense of self is very closely intertwined with my brother. In a way, I feel as though I am one person manifested in two bodies.” Solarising “is an effect which occurs when a developing print is briefly re-exposed to light, causing the image to become a 50% positive and 50% negative. This links back to the idea that twins are two parts of one entity or as the inverse to the other.”

Again just experimenting with ways to paint figures in this one. She almost ended up in the painting grave yard tho 😠🪦

Been focusing on incorporation figures into my paintings this semester. Bit of a change from what i’m used to but here is one of my pieces 😅😃
